The Fort Bend Museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission: $5 for adults; $4 for seniors (62+); $3 for children (5 to 15 years old). Saturday, March 24 | Children's Day
The Children's Day Festival is a free, fun-filled event for the whole family. A wide variety of activities will be available throughout the day, including ginning cotton, spinning demonstrations, an archaeology dig and tours of the historic Moore Home. The entire event will be held on the Museum grounds from noon to 5 p.m. Refreshments will be for sale. Contact Claire for more details.
Saturday, April 21 | Lone Star Stomp
The 18th annual western-themed gala fundraiser will benefit the educational programs and preservation efforts of the Fort Bend County Museum Association. Join us for a great evening of dining, dancing and socializing! Exciting entertainment options, a Texas-sized barbecue meal and all the trimmings accompanied by beer, wine and soft drinks. Dancing...dining...live and silent auctions...exciting entertainment...and lots more. The event will be held on Saturday, April 21 at the George Ranch Arena from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Saturday, September 20 | Fiestas Patrias Celebration
The 14th Annual Fiestas Patrias Festival will take place on the grounds of the Moore Home in historic Richmond at the Fort Bend Museum. Activities will include Mexican music, traditional folkloric dancing, a car show, and children's activities (including bingo, jalapeƱo and watermelon contests and a Carranza puppet show). The festival will take place on Saturday, September 20, from noon to 5 p.m. FREE.
Saturday, October 25, 2008 | Texian Market Days
Come help us celebrate the 25th anniversary of Texian Market Days! On Saturday, October 25, join us at the George Ranch Historical Park for a full day of history and heritage benefiting the educational programs of the Fort Bend County Museum Association. (A school field trip day is scheduled for Friday, so call (281) 343-0218 for more information.) Programs include the Texian Time Machine, where kids of all ages can imagine life as it was during the early years of the Ranch's history. In addition to time travel, guests can enjoy folk life demonstrations, historical reenactments, historic house tours, an antique tractor show and pull, the Texian Arts & Crafts Marketplace and great entertainment. Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost: $10/Adult, $5/Child. Children under 4 are FREE. Fee includes parking, admission and TRAM service. Friday, December 5 and Saturday, December 6 | Candlelight Tours of the Moore Home
The Moore Home Annual Candlelight Tour is an event not to be missed. The already-beautiful Moore Home is decorated by our docents in the spirit of the season to reflect the warmth and joy of the holidays. In addition, the Long-Smith Cottage is decorated for an 1860 Christmas celebration. The event takes place on Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday evening from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Cost is $5/adults, $4/seniors, $3/children.
