Birthday Parties

The Fort Bend Museum offers a variety of children's birthday party options in a historic atmosphere you won't find anywhere else. You can choose from the following party packages:

Smith Family at Home - In 1860, Thomas Jefferson and Julia Bassett Smith lived in the Long-Smith Cottage with ten of their children. Learn all about this family and how they lived by touring their home, dressing in period costumes, and helping with daily chores. Some activities include drawing water, washing clothes and churning butter. Your child and guests will enjoy themselves and learn to appreciate their life in the 21st century.

Victorian Dress-up - Boys and girls will dress up in "turn-of-the-19th-century" clothing. The children will be attired hats, parasols, dresses, vests and caps. Children will have the opportunity to play graces and hoops and can also learn to walk on stilts. It's a great chance for children to have loads of fun while learning what their great-grandparents did for fun before video games, noisy toys and batteries.

These programs are designed for children in preschool through third grade and will last approximately one hour. Following our program, the birthday party activities (such as serving cake and ice cream) will be held on the enclosed side porch of the historic Moore Home. The family will furnish all serving items, decorations and refreshments. The Museum will supply table, chairs and a limited number of table coverings.

Price: All parties are $125 plus $5 per child. A deposit of $50 is required for reservations. Total duration of the party is 2 hours. Age Limit: 5 years and older. Maximum party size is 25.
