Preservation Fund: To assist the Association's efforts to preserve
historic structures, artifact collections, and archeological sites that
document Texas history.
- Restoration of the 1901 Richmond Railroad Depot: Partially funded by a
federal Transportation Enhancement grant in the amount of $306,313. Initial
phases of design, environmental review, and exhibit planning are finished
and the restoration is ready to be bid in the fall of 2005. Additional
matching funds of $50,000 are needed this year to keep the project on
schedule for a completion by late 2006.
- Cyclical Preservation of Historic Structures: Contributions totaling
$25,000 are needed to provide for the significant preservation needs
required to maintain the Museum's six historic buildings to accreditation
standards.
- San Felipe de Austin Archeology Project: The Texas Historical
Commission provides a $25,000 matching grant to support the archeological
excavation project of Stephen F. Austin's colonial capital that requires the
Museum to raise an equal amount in matching funds.
Education Fund: To assist the Association's mission to teach about
community and Texas history at its own facilities and in outreach programs
to schools throughout the Houston metro area.
- Decker Park: The Strategic Plan initiative to accelerate the completion
of Decker Park will enable the Museum to more than double its capacity for
onsite school programs and will serve as the site for a new living history
educational program centering on town life in the early 1900s. Decker Park
will also serve as a key location for new community events and festivals
centered in the Richmond Historic District. Funds of $65,000 are being
sought.
- Texian Time Machine: In its first year of booking, the Museum's
prestigious new educational outreach program is being enthusiastically
received by educators in school districts from Fort Bend to Tomball to
Kingwood. With a capacity of 350 children per day, the program is
anticipated to serve 15,000 students annually by 2007. The Museum
Association must raise matching grant funds of $45,850 for the second year
of the project by September 30, 2005.
Technology Fund: To help provide the technological advances that
are central to several of the Association's objectives.
- Donor Management System: Upgrades and additions to the Museum’s
computer networks ($3,850) are required to fully utilize the donation of a
powerful management software program.
- PowerPoint Presentations: A digital camera ($1,000) is needed to
complement the recent donations of a laptop computer and LCD projector for
use in promotional and educational presentations.
- Digital Imaging Lab:
Initial equipment acquisitions costing $23,399 are needed to update and
expand the Museum's digital imaging capabilities to create a regional
facility as part of a statewide effort to bring museum and library
collections in Texas together in a unified search from the Internet.
