Junior Docents

December 1, 2008: Junior Docents will decorate the Long-Smith Cottage from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Fort Bend Museum.

A Junior Docent is a:

  • Tour guide
  • Historian
  • Friendly smile to a wiggly child
  • Helper
  • Volunteer
  • A GREAT asset to the Museum

Volunteers should have:

  • A real interest in history
  • A desire to be helpful
  • An ability to learn simple programs pertaining to Fort Bend County history
  • Be between 13 and 18 years old

Fiestas Patrias

Activities: Making corn cob dolls and tortillas; pinatas, games, face painting, etc.

Training for volunteers: Monday, Sept. 8 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Event: Saturday, Sept. 20 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Fort Bend Museum.


Texian Market Days:

Activities: Dressing up in period clothing to do games and time-period-appropriate activities plus a special pre-school area.

Training for volunteers:Monday, Oct. 13 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Event: Saturday, October 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the George Ranch Historical Park.


Candlelight Christmas Tours:

Activities: Giving tours of the Long-Smith Cottage.

Training for tours: Monday, Dec. 1 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Event: Friday, Dec. 5 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 6 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
