Classes and Workshops

Volunteer Training

Interested in volunteering? The museum is always looking for individuals to share their love of history and its preservation with the general public. We are currently training volunteers to help in almost every aspect of museum work, including educational programming, maintenance/restoration of historic houses, adult tours, receptionist and gift shop management, sewing and maintaining our costumes, garden/landscape management, fundraising and so much more. Send an e-mail to Danielle Jennings for more information.

Spinner Training

Spinner training classes are offered periodically throughout the year. The program is geared specifically to train new volunteers to lead the Museum's school program on textiles, but also welcomes those who are simply interested in learning to use a spinning wheel. Participants will learn how to use drop spindles and will then work their way way to the great wheel, treadle and castle wheels and the loom. The program is free for members of the Fort Bend County Museum Association and $25 for non-members.

Call Danielle Jennings at (281) 342-6478 or educator@fortbendmuseum.org for more information.
