Quail Valley Middle School Participates in 'Pennies' Campaign!

Quail Valley Middle School GT Academy added their names to the list of schools who have raised money for the new DeWalt Heritage Center! The DeWalt Heritage Center will be housed in the old Dew House, located off of Highway 6 in Missouri City's Kitty Hollow Park. The Dew family originally owned much of the land on which Quail Valley now rests. Thank you to the students and faculty of QVMS! Sienna Crossing Elementary Collects $4,000 in 'Dropping Pennies for Dew House' campaign

Led by Principal Linda Ruckman, the wonderful faculty, students and staff of Sienna Crossing Elementary raised the meaning of "Just Dew It" to a new level! Student council members are pictured here with the many jugs of pennies collected preparing to load them into Ms. Molly Brogan's van for a trip to the bank! THANK YOU SIENNA CROSSING ELEMENTARY...the Fort Bend County Museum Association and the DeWalt Heritage Steering Committee hopes you'll be among the first classes to tour the DeWalt Heritage Center (the old Dew House) in Kitty Hollow Park, which will preserve East Fort Bend County History, when it opens.

UPDATE: As of April 13, the students at Highlands Elementary collected $350 in the "Dropping Pennies for Dew House" campaign, and will receive three bricks on the Dew House Walkway for their school (one brick for Mrs. Rader's Class, one brick for the Lewis-Ward Classes and another brick for the school itself for the 2008-2009 academic year). "Highland Students are real DEW-ers!" said Lisa Glenn, volunteer with the DeWalt Heritage Center.

Lakeview Elementary: Still Dewing Pennies!

On March 31, Lakeview Elementary School Nurse Lisa Howell accompanied Special Project Historian Diane Ware to have their first batch of collected money from the Dewing Pennies for Dew House jars counted at the bank. To-date, students collected an amazing $123.02, and have earned their commemorative brick on the Dew House back walkway. Way to go, Vikings!
But this is not the end of Lakeview's drive. Principal Janet Moring explained that she has some special incentives to encourage her staff to also donate. Ms. Moring hopes to raise as much as "a couple hundred dollars more" for the Dew House.
A special thanks to Lakeview and all those schools involved in the Dropping Pennies for Dew House drive. Once again, the community spirit of our Fort Bend schools shines brightly!

UPDATE: As of 3/3/09, Quail Valley Middle School, the Fort Bend Junior Service League, Sienna Crossing Elementary, Prudential Gary Greene Realtors in Sienna and Sugar Land and Lakeview Elementary have joined the campaign to Drop Pennies for Dew House!
